Emblemaria hypacanthus, known commonly as the Gulf signal blenny in Mexico and the United Kingdom,[2] is a species of chaenopsid blenny in the genus Emblemaria.[3] It is known from the Gulf of California, in the eastern central Pacific ocean.[3] It was named by O.P. Jenkins and B.W. Evermann in 1889,[4] and can reach a maximum length of 5 centimetres.[3] Blennies in this species feed primarily off of zooplankton,[5] and have potential in the aquarium trade.[3]
